Senate Votes Unanimously to Pass 25 Year Retirement Bill for Correctional Officers
On June 28th, the Delaware Senate passed House Bill 164 with a vote of 21-0. Both, Governor Jack Markell and DOC Commissioner Carl Danberg support the 25 year retirement legislation for Correctional Officers leaving only a favorable “PLR” from the Internal Revenue Service before it goes into effect.
In the fall of 2011, the State of Delaware paid the $10,000 fee for a “Private Letter Ruling.” If the Internal Revenue Service issues the “PLR” stating the pension plan meets their rules and regulations, the long awaited “25 year retirement ring” for Correctional Officers will become a reality.
